Our group used Aventura Quechua for a custom climbing and trekking trip of 11 days through the Vilcanota Range. Carlos and his crew covered every detail without fail. He handled everything from airport pick-up and Machu Picchu tickets to all of the logistics or a trek from Tinqui through to Pitumarca. Our cook, Domingo, surpassed the skill of all prior cooks we've hired over the course of 6 prior trips to the Andes. Arrieros Leo and Rocque covered every pack train need and many more tasks that just made the trip come together. Driver and facilitator John covered road transportation and miscellaneous needs on time, on route, and without a hitch, every time.

Simply said, Carlos and his crew met every logistical need and constructed a smooth custom trip, from airport pick-up to airport drop-off. I recommend him without reservation. For additional details as to our experience with Aventura Quechua please see the peru 2011 narrative at www.climbingwithbob.com.

Cordialement

I had the great luck of being alone on the 13 days Huayhuash Trek this year (2009) in July. It was an extraordinary experience - thank you all so much!

Already before the departure Carlos was very helpful and patient with all my questions. Arriving in Huaraz, I stayed in the "B&B My House" to spent 4 days acclimatising. The place is simple but clean, with a lot of hot water and Patty and her mother treated me like a family member, helping with any issue I had and just generally being extremely warm-harded!

During the trek, Nilton (the guide), Estevan (the cook) and Erick (the "arriero") were an amazing team, always friendly and smiling, always looking after me, finding the best spots for breaks and camp-sites and just generally making sure that I had a great time. I already miss Estevan's food (it's amazing what he creates on a small camping kitchen!), the big smile of Erick when he passed us in the course of the day or when we arrived at camp, the talks I had with Nilton during the hike (at least when I had enough breath to talk...) and of course the incredible scenery they all shared with me!

At night we had great talks, I heard a lot of local tales, ghost stories, we discussed politics, the history of Peru and of course I learned a lot about the lives of the 3.

The trekking route itself was not the most common one, a bit harder at times but so worth it! It was a great choice!!! And since it was not the most common route, we had quite a few days and evenings were we didn’t meet any other trekking group which I - who enjoys being away from it all – appreciated a lot!

Once again, thank you all so much – I really hope that I can come back one day to do another trek with you guys!!!

We had an amazing trip to the Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru and credit goes to Carlos and his team at Aventura Quechua.

For months before the trip, Carlos was supremely patient answering all of our email questions. His answers were always clear, detailed, and accompanied by consistent and accurate pricing. We really appreciated his input because he always provided rationale for why he would choose one route over another.

We stayed at Mi Casa in Huaraz where his mother, Francisca, and sister, Patricia, took excellent care of us and coordinated all of our acclimatization trips. Although we were worried about the altitude, the schedule we ended up with (coming from Cusco and doing 2 acclimatization day trips to Chavin and Laguna Charup) worked well for everyone in our party (we also took gingko biloba and drank coca mate on the trail).

On the hike, Esteban was a great cook - hardworking and very consciencious in ensuring that all of our logistics worked like clockwork. He always had lunch or snacks ready for us on the trail or when we got to camp. He also has great local knowledge of the mountains and offered several tweaks to improve our route. We were able to communicate with Esteban with our limited Spanish enough to get by (he spoke Spanish slowly, and we had 4 people listening, plus a dictionary).

The burro drivers were some of the hardest working guys we met in Peru. They would be up hours before us, readying camp for breakfast and departure, which allowed us to hit the trail without delay in the morning. They were such fast hikers that they would pass us on the trail each day and have camp set up when we arrived.

Overall, the trip to the Huayhuash was one of the most scenic and culturally interesting trips we have been on. Our experience with Aventura Quechua is proof that a guided trip can work well for typically independent hikers like us.

Thanks for everything!

I had the pleasure of taking a class with two Professors that chose Aventura Quechua to guide our travels in January of 2008. I found the experience to be the greatest of my lifetime. I benefited from it both academically and spiritually and cannot express enough thanks to those who contributed to my experience. Thank you so much and I will remember it for a lifetime.

Hello Angelina,

Just some words on this very enjoyable trip through a very pleasant country, as well for landscapes that for the people and the very good welcome we had everywhere...
All I can report concerning the organization is that everything was perfectly planned, with always a "professional" touch, and everything was comfortable for us.
Concerning the Huayhuash trek, no problem, very good cooking, a very kind guide, the
only "difficulty" for us has been to fight against "serroche", and the lack of oxygen. (3 days of acclimatization in Huaraz is a minimum...) The route itself can be considered as easy. The only little reproach concerns the
first day, with an unpleasant walk on a dusty road with a lot of trucks.

In Cusco, no problem, a lot of interesting visits with Mario, including the climb of Waynapicchu, following a "queue" morning.

Very pleasant night also in Taquile, which has allowed us to visit the isle out of the tourist rush. Nevertheless, no real contact with our hosts, we have had the dinner and the breakfast in the restaurant.

So, let's me thank again you and all your team, everything was perfect, including your choices of hotels.

I don't know if I will come back in the future in Peru, but I keep your contact for all my acquaintances who can be tempted to visit this country.

Best regards
