Our group used Aventura Quechua for a custom climbing and trekking trip of 11 days through the Vilcanota Range. Carlos and his crew covered every detail without fail. He handled everything from airport pick-up and Machu Picchu tickets to all of the logistics or a trek from Tinqui through to Pitumarca. Our cook, Domingo, surpassed the skill of all prior cooks we've hired over the course of 6 prior trips to the Andes. Arrieros Leo and Rocque covered every pack train need and many more tasks that just made the trip come together. Driver and facilitator John covered road transportation and miscellaneous needs on time, on route, and without a hitch, every time.
Simply said, Carlos and his crew met every logistical need and constructed a smooth custom trip, from airport pick-up to airport drop-off. I recommend him without reservation. For additional details as to our experience with Aventura Quechua please see the peru 2011 narrative at www.climbingwithbob.com.

You will be travelling by bus to the city of Huaraz today. Your local representative will pick you up from your hotel at about noon to transfer you to the bus station. The bus ride is about 7 hours in total and the local representative in Huaraz will be waiting to transfer you to your hostel.
A free day to acclimatize and enjoy the city. Your local representative is available to suggest activities for the day if you like.
A day tour to the site of Chavin de Huantar. The Chavin Culture is the oldest, major culture in Peru (1300 - 400 BC). The ruins at Chavin de Huantar consist of a large main square which has a staircase leading into the "Castillo". This is a three-storey, 13 metre high building which houses many chambers and tunnels - many of them underground. There are no windows or doors (other than the main entrance) but the whole complex was so well-designed that there is virtually no mustiness. A 4 metre high stone dagger can be found in the heart of the building.
Pick-up at your hotel and transfer to the starting point of the trek in a private bus. We pass through the picturesque cities of Yungay and Caraz, from where appears before us the two imposing summits of Huascaran. We follow the path that ascends the first Andean buttresses. Then to Huishcash where we view our next snow-covered peak - Milluacocha. A short trek to our camp, which has a splendid view of the Yanacocha lagoon. (5 hr trek - Camp at 4250m)
We continue our ascent, following the aqueduct to Cullicocha. We have our picnic lunch facing the Névado Santa-Cruz and its glacier, which falls into the Rajucocha lagoon. Then we reach the highest pass of the circuit (4850m). (4 hr trek - Camp at 4500m)
A short trek to reach the Ventana Pass (4750m). At the end of the long Quebrada de Los Cedros “the most beautiful mountain in the world" appears - Alpamayo (5947m). We camp by the campsite called Jancarurish. (6 hr trek - Camp at 4200m)
Accom – Tent / Meals – B, L, D
We continue our ascent to cross the Andes range, by reaching the Caracara Pass (4830m). We enter the immense, “Ichu” covered, Mayobamba valley and continue onto Huilcapampa. (7 hr trek - Camp at 4050m)
From the Huilca Pass (4600m), we get the sensation that we can reach out and touch the Nevado of Pucahirca – the mountains seem so close. (6 hr trek - Camp at 3500m)
In the early morning, on the Jacapampa plain, we get our first glimpse of the immense Pucahirca glacier, which seems about to fall! Then we will continue our hike towards the small settlement Pishgopampa, reaching the pass Tupatupa 4360m. We continue the valley to make camp close to the Huecracocha Lagoon, which dominates the valley. (8 hr trek - Camp at 4050m)
Today we ascend the Pucaraju pass (4750m). From the pass we have great views of Cordillera Blanca and Taulliraju. (8hr trek - Camp at 3800m).
Passing by Colcabamba, we start to climb towards Vaqueria where our transport will take us back to Huaraz passing by Portachuelo Pass, awesome views of Huascaran, Huandoy, Chacraraju, Pisco and Chopicalqui and the Llanganuco lakes, then we continue to Yungay and Huaraz (4hr trek – Bus journey 3hr)
